[January 27th, Year One]
Silver grey eyes, much more expressive and stormy than any on the Moon had yet seen, gazed down into the goblet of wine held by slender, yet strong lightly tanned fingers. Though it was still into the wee hours of the current day, her insomnia and what the day itself meant had driven her here. And so, while hoping that none would find her, she had come here to the kitchens, searched out a bottle of wine, and a glass, and settled to attempt to drown out her memories. Her memories, and her feelings. Neither were things she could deal with, and so she usually locked then away deep within her mind and heart, but on this day, and at times both the day preceding and following it, she could no-longer hold them at bay. Sneering at her thoughts – she was already just inebriated enough to not bother with hiding her emotions being her cold mask – she lifted the glass to her lips, and took a deep draught. It wasn’t quite as strong as the liquor from her homeworld, but that was fine, really.
It just meant she could deal with this a bit longer, rather than becoming completely smashed at the pace she usually did. It had been, if her hazy mind remembered correctly, eight Terran years since she had allowed herself to indulge this habit of hers, and she was making good use of it… Normally, she never would have allowed herself this, not in her current situation, but… She needed it. This year, she couldn’t force herself to not. It was too much, year after year, and when she wasn’t dealing with her pain this way… She was consumed by a rage so powerful that she did not return to herself until she had loosed her pain by killing mindlessly. That had worked, while in the battles of Pluto, and when fighting in the civil wars of her homeworld, but… not now. She could never forgive herself, if she had harmed any of those who lived in the Palace, least of all the Queen or the Princess. That thought in mind, she drained her goblet, and then refilled it. It would be a long night, whatever happened.
