Sailor Mars
Alias: Princess Enyo II of Phobos-Deimos, Lady Mars. Age: 247 Family:
- Ares IX, 808, King
- Enyo I, 730, Queen Consort
- Twin brother, Enyalios, born shortly after her.
- Many others, born illegitimately
- High Priest - not particularly related to her, but he's old enough to act as a Uncle or Grandfather to her in a sense.
Guardians: Two ladies/crows by the name of Phobos and Deimos who have steadily been by her side since childhood and the female women of her father’s house before her.
Rank: Sailor Mars – Inner Senshi Power(s): As Sailor Mars, and one of the four guardians of the Moon Princess, Lady Mars holds the power over fire. She is a stalwart warrior, and possibly only second to the sheer strength of Jupiter or even Venus when it comes to offensive attacks. Mars is also the carrier of the Mars Arrow. Abilities: To put it quite simply, Mars has the ability to see visions. Its nature is much unprompted and vague, but it’s still a very reliable psychic ability that gets stronger when coupled with readings from a burning fire or vivid dream, called pyromancy. As for what she sees… well, they’re never good prophecies.
Mars is also a very skilled archer, with sharp eyes and very good aim.
Traits: She can be hard to read, and even harder to get close to. While she is polite and sophisticated, as a princess should be, she will not concern herself with small talk or beating around the bush. What others mistake for coldness, Lady Mars is actually prideful, passionate, and headstrong young woman with a penchant for honesty rather than the other sugary form of vocabulary. She calls it how she sees it, and brutally so. It is rare for her to show remorse should she wound another person’s feelings, though ironically enough, she’s never one to be able to handle the truth herself. A fiery woman with a temper to match, Mars can be easily offended and can hold a very intense grudge against anyone who incites her irritation. Though capable of being kind, it does not mean that she isn't known for some cynical remarks. In spite of her teasing or provoking, she feels nothing but tenderness and devotion for her friends and family, and is the most selfless when it comes to any harm against them.
Habits: She tends to watch and analyze people on first impressions, giving others the thought that she’s suspicious of them when she’s really just curious. She rarely tends to show her worries and fears to others; instead she will constantly hold herself up in a room with fire, and will even waste sleep over it if she feels it be necessary. Other times she is training with her comrades or meditating.
Description: Uniform: As Sailor Mars, she wears a white leotard. The rest of her fuku is comprised of red being the main color and purple as the accent. The bow on her chest is purple with a round red brooch, while the bow on her behind, the collar, pleated skirt, heels, choker, and five pointed star shaped earrings are all red. There is one stripe of white on her collar, and her gloves are white and accented with red rings at her elbows. Her tiara is of gold that contains a ruby gem in the middle, with the planetary symbol of Mars just behind it on her forehead.
Princess: Outside of her uniform, Mars is notable for wearing red or purple flowing dresses or clothing that is somewhat fitting around her hips. She has even delved into some of fashions of Venus on some occasions, but is far more comfortable with the styles of her homeland. She wears another white tunic with a red lines around the hem and waist of the dress - her dress when she's meditating, with a fire, or praying.
Appearance: Mars has often been mistaken for a seemingly delicate creature due to her status and sex. With ivory skin, she is of average height and has a slim physique save for the athleticism in her arms and calves due to training and the curves around her waist and chest. In spite of her size, Lady Mars is no timorous girl; instead, she carries herself with her head held high, showing absolutely no sign of diffidence. Framed by long and dark eyelashes, her eyes are a amethyst color except when she's extremely upset - in the event her temper has been tampered with, the color darkens to a gloomy purpley-coal color. Her eyes are the most definitive quality to her; vast and expressive, they hold every strong emotion within her without her having to say a word (though that never happens). Complementing her eyes and pale skin are the long raven tresses that flow unbound below her shoulders.
Strengths: - Enigmatic: Not only because of her premonitions, but because of her tendency to seem indifferent and her guarded nature. Since not many know the real woman behind the facade of a princess and Senshi, others find her mysterious, if not a holder of many secrets.
- Mature: She rarely acts her age, save for when she is annoyed or angry.
- Self-sovereign: Lady Mars is a woman who governs herself, and will make certain that no person, be it man or woman, can control her without her consent. She has always been a always be a lady who determines her own fate rather than going things that have been predetermined for her.
- Resilient: No matter how offended she may get or what obstacles she must face Lady Mars is quick to recover, and a overall hardy individual.
- Tactful: A child of war, Mars is a clever little thing, and can be subtle or lie if the situation requires of it. She is a very good actress.
- Passionate: Lady Mars is a woman who is devoted to the things she believes are worth fighting for, and she will fight to the death to make sure that justice is uplheld.
Weaknesses:
- Arrogant: She can be a little too confident for her own good, a very common trait that naturally comes with being a Martian royal.
- Haphazard (to herself): When it comes to protecting her friends, especially for Princess Serenity’s sake, she will go to no end making sure everyone is okay, even if it means overextending her own stamina and physical strength in order to comply with her inexhaustible fears.
- Tempestuous: Mars is quick to spark even quicker at making sure those that wrong her feel her everlasting burn.
- Judgemental: She can be a bit distrustful of others, especially of Terrans, and of course, anyone who she believes would harm her princess.
- Formal: Mars has the difficult habit of being overly polite on the first encounters, to the point of sounding unfeeling or too insincere.
Hopes:
- To make sure that Serenity is a wise leader.
- To be a great ruler herself, when the time comes to inherit the Martian throne.
- For peace; although she is the daughter of Ares and Enyo, the God and Goddess of War, she does not want war for her Princess, mainly because she knows that the younger woman cannot handle it very well.
- Hopes to mend her broken bonds with her brother, though she doesn't know when that will happen yet.
Fears:
- Any harm coming upon her dear Princess, her comrades of Inner Court, and her family.
- Her visions failing her.
Background:
Just nine months before, the Queen Enyo I had been lying in bed next to her husband when it had happened. A dream more vivid than she could have ever imagined and too real to be pushed to the back of her mind had occurred. Each one after told her of an immense struggle that would happen once she would give birth. When consulting some of the oracles, they told her that she would lose her unborn child and possibly the son to the throne. The young woman panicked, for her husband, being the proud man of so many brothers, had always desired a son to rule in his name.
In what she thought were the final hours for her child, Enyo I begrudgingly went through the labor without so much as shedding a single tear. She did not know, however, that this was simply the temporary connection with the child that made her tap into the child's gifts. Nor did she know that the struggle the advisors had painted for did not entail death, but a struggle of a different circumstance entirely: The struggle for the Crown of Mars.
Instead of bearing the lifeless baby in the prophecy, she bore twins. And, as if the Gods wanted to purposely bruise the monstrous ego of King Ares IX, the first born was a daughter. A miffed Ares could do nothing but follow the mandate of his kingdom, which stated the first born child would have to be the next ruler of the Martian people. Still, he loved his children (in his own way, of course).
Her relationship with her brother was a close one. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her brother. Mars vowed at a very early age that she would not be controlled by another man with or without force instilled upon her, and the only male she did happen to trust without question was her twin.
The event that happened prior to her birth would not be the last demonstration of the princess's gifts. Within seven years, the girl had another prediction when she had played around near a pyre. She had envisioned a fire that would consume one of the cities that was most important to Ares, because it was the leading industry for the planet's weapons and armor. No one had believed the young girl, but more of these nightmares interrupted the night and her protests increased. Eventually, Ares sent some soldiers to placate his grieving daughter, and in good time; an accident had broken out in the city, with the destruction heading for the path of the Castle.
The fire was put out, and only a few lives were lost. Though the cause of it could not be discovered, Ares would respect his daughter a little more that he originally had before. The people praised his daughter; where there were many in awe of her however, there was an equal amount that was in fear of the princess's gifts.
When these stories surrounding her birth and childhood reached the ears of the Goddess and Queen of Luna, the illustrious Queen Serenity knew without a doubt that the girl would be the next Senshi of Mars and the guard of her daughter. Immediately Mars was sent away to live with her in Luna.
Eventually, her twin brother Enyalios began to see his sister as an some sort of an enemy. Even Mars herself drifted away from him as her powers grew stronger and her duties to Princess Serenity became ever more significant. Mars secretly wishes nothing more than to regain the bond she once had with him in their childhood, though she has always pretended to be indifferent on the subject.
Still, her devotion to her duties at the Lunian Palace doesn't exactly help that wish true.
RP Sample: Mars lived in the Palace of Luna for almost all of her life since Queen Serenity had summoned her so many years ago, and yet she still wasn’t used to the very nature of the planet. Surveying the gardens, she stopped short near the flowers that had been tended to for centuries, even before she existed.
The moon was very beautiful of course, but in such an eerie way that it made Mars slightly homesick. In all honesty she loved her sisters-in-arms and the Princess Serenity dearly, but sometimes she missed the reddish hue of the planet, the warmth of fires burning amongst the great halls of the Phobos-Deimos Castle, and her brother. She would never say it to her friends, but she almost missed her homeland.
Mars looked at a flower that was native to her planet of Mars and smiled. Yes, she almost missed home. Almost.
There was something else the coolness of the Moon that reminded her of the iciness that would be in the air should she visit back home again. Her brother hated her, she was aware of that. He grew jealous of her abilities, of her position for the throne, the fact that she came first when they were birthed by their mother. But rather than "crying over spilt milk", as she had once heard from another person that the Terrans would often repeat in situations such as these (What a strange saying!), Mars turned on her heel to check the fires within the solace of the Lunian Shrine for anything suspicious.
Because, whether or not she missed her twin, it was Princess Serenity, though not of her flesh and blood, who would always come first in her list of priorities.
Contact Information: Pm or contact my email Other: This site is so cool and I’ve been waiting so long for a Silver Millennium Roleplay Experience: Seven years this month. Why do you want to play this character? Oh, jeez, there are several reasons why. Firstly, I would love to develop her in where Naoko Takeuchi couldn’t, especially during the Silver Millennium.
I want to play out that sisterly bond that she shared with the other girls.
Mars is a woman of many dualities. She’s fiery, blunt and confident, yet she likes to be left alone and can get very uncomfortable and shy around people. She could be a leader if given the chance, but she hates to be led by others.
I love the fact that while it’s hard for her to make genuine friendships with others, the relationships Mars manages to keep will stand the test of time. She never takes advantage or takes people for granted.
She may be snobbish, but she’ll take the side of the underdog any day.
Mars is the ultimate feminist – She always secures her own sense of independence rather than allowing a man to do things for her.
She’s one of the very few SM characters who have powers outside of the Sailor Senshi identity. Visions/Pyromancy AND being a Senshi? Pretty bamf if you ask me!
I love the perfect balance of femininity, grace, enigma, and toughness that her character has. Also, the higher level of maturity than the other girls in the manga had me in awe of her.
Mars has always been my favorite canon growing up.
