Queen Serenity I
Alias: Goddess Selene, Radiance of the Moon and Bringer of the Night (by Terran myth)
Age: 1273
Family:
- Pandia, Deceased, former Queen of the Silver Millennium
- Astraeus, Deceased, former King of the Silver Millennium
- Serenity, 208, Heir to the Throne
Rank: The Queen of the Silver Millennium and The Moon Kingdom
Power(s): Serenity’s powers come from her control over the Silver Crystal, a jeweled artifact said to hold tremendous power and perform great miracles, such as giving and protecting life.
Traits: Serenity was and has always been a kindhearted soul who has treated all around her with respect and love. Her people, her allies, and the princesses who have sworn an oath to her daughter have become sort of children to the Queen, though Serenity’s full love and compassion has always belonged to her only daughter. She is fun-loving and perhaps silly at times, though she keeps herself very professional in the presence of her people. Behind her veil of tenderness, however, Serenity has become aged with worry, as she fears the prophesies of what might tell the downfall of her child and she will do anything to stop them. While trusting, she is always frightened of those she has allowed past her borders to be people who want to do evil to her subjects. Serenity is always calm—very little does she break the regel image she has created for herself—but even she has a temper, one that, when runs dry, can chill an entire room and break the wills of armored men. She may be no warrior, but Serenity will do anything for her daughter and her people; even give up her life.
Habits:
Keeping Secrets- As Queen of the Silver Millennium, Serenity eyes see far and wide. She knows of events and people who are better left in the dark. Despite adoring those in her charge very much, Serenity does not wish to burden them with such heavy secrets that would only stress them. She keeps them to herself, whether they are the usual activeness of the Sun or the Time Gates far inside the Palace.
Messy Artist- Serenity admittedly has a taste for sketching and drawing when her world quiets down. As good as she is, she makes a habit of getting ink and paint all over her dress and even letting her drawings fly away when she is not paying attention, which happens often.
Description: Typically, the Queen has come to wear very plain, but comfortable dresses made out of light fabric. The dresses are usually very long, the skirts flowing out like a mermaid tail. If she is to wear any sleeves, they are usually open-mouth and can be connected to her fingers by a ring. She usually wears dresses off the shoulder.
One of Serenity’s most favored dress is a plain thing with wide double wings for the bow and a large bow on her breast, a golden crescent moon brooch placed in the middle.
Serenity only wears jewelry and hair accessories on important occasions, even going as far as wearing a chained crown on her head that places a large crescent moon over her forehead.
Appearance: Serenity is a very tall woman, standing at 6 feet high. She is very skinny, having the appearance of a pixie or a sprite, with long legs and arms as well as fingers. Her face is very beautiful and youthful, making her look no more than twenty years old. She has silver hair that shines white in certain lights and wide, lively silver eyes.
Strengths:
- Enduring- Having survived a war and having to rebuilding her Kingdom from scratch, Serenity is not easily broken.
- Compassionate- Her love and her affections know no bounds. She welcomes all who accept peace into her home, even those who shouldn’t be trusted.
- Motherly- Serenity is a maternal being and she cares for many as her own children. She protects them and loves them as any mother would.
- Leader- She knows her place and she knows the responsibilities that lay on her shoulders. Serenity will perform them as she should and she will make sure that her Kingdom is secure; for now and the future.
Weaknesses:
- Paranoia- Serenity fears the day Chaos or other evils may raise and take what she has built. It keeps her awake at night and has made her wary of many things. Including Earth and what lay in the dead Planet, Saturn.
- Silent Rage- She was a Warrior’s daughter and his temper flowed into her soul. Serenity is a kindhearted woman who does not anger easily, but when she is, her punishments are rush and cruel.
- Regret- The mistakes Serenity has made haunt her and even if no one knows of them, she does and she will always remember what she has done wrong.
- Inflexible- Stubbornness is only great until it turns on deaf ears. Serenity’s will may not be broken so easily, but because of that, it has caused her to dismiss many ideas and pleads out of anger and pride.
Hopes:
- Her Daughter will grow to be the Queen she wishes to be; happy and healthy and strong.
- Her People and her allies will remain safe so long as the Crystal is within her reach.
- She lives to see Princess Serenity and her Guardians become Queens.
- The secrets and theories she is fears never come true or are seen.
Fears:
- The death of her child before her very eyes.
- The crumbling of another Kingdom.
- She is exposed for the coward and liar that she believes herself to be.
- Chaos returns to spread darkness over her home once more.
Background: Serenity’s childhood—her youth’s adventures and mistakes—have been treated as misguided legends among her people and the Solar System. Even on Earth, where the Terrans revile her, she is referred to as a Goddess of legend, sister of the dawn and the sun. It is no wonder that this has taken place, she knows. She has hidden the details of her past well, concerned that the knowledge would lead to someone exploiting any weaknesses. She’ll tell you, however, that her childhood was a happy one. It was her naïve adolescence in which she has grown to regret.
Serenity was not born on the moon nor in the Solar System which she now calls home. She born to a King and a Queen in a galaxy far too old and gone to recall what it was called. The moon she lived on was as bright as the orb her mother presented to her when she came of age. Like her, it saw no darkness and the people knew of no ill contempt. Serenity spent her childhood in the protective arms for her father, whose powers brought the dusk with a swish of his hand, and holding the gentle hands of her mother, the Queen who had achieved peace in her own Millennium. If there was trouble or hatred or violence before Serenity was born, they had kept it all hidden well; Serenity knew no such thing as evil or the temptations that came with it.
It would come to no surprise that Serenity would not know the warning signs of war than as well. It came in the forms of men holding weapons of steel and women wielding magic which broke down the walls of her Kingdom. Her father called it evil plaguing their minds—her mother told her it was the being Chaos, who saw the light of their world from across the galaxy and wished to convent it. And the Queen refused to let him have heirloom she had sworn to protect and the child she loved. The King and Queen called out to the Gods, if they were any left, to take their daughter and bring her to a place she would be safe. Serenity does not know the Gods heard their plea, but she was taken, either way, in a flash of light. The last thing she saw was her mother and father turning to face the villains who had once worshipped them.
The light took Serenity across the Universe to another galaxy and another system which was watched over by an entity called the ‘Sun’. A young Queen, she made home on a moon overlooking a blue planet, and pleaded for the planets to promise alliance with her. For whatever reason—the Silver Crystal or the light she carried with her—the Rulers gave them her sword and her shield and thus the Planetary Alliance was born. Her Kingdom grew into the White Moon, where, once again, no darkness and no evil would be known. And so came Queen Serenity I’s reign as Queen of the Moon.
There is more, she is sure, but Queen Serenity has grown wary of this trip down memory lane. Did she have a lover? Yes. Two hundred years previous she did, indeed. However, she does wish to speak of the man she laid her heart out to. His name was Morpheus—he was born from the Sun’s rays and he died in the Sun’s rays. His body lay where no one will ever find him but she. She has given birth to a Princess she knows will be greater than she; she fears the day she strays too far from her hands. Has she done forbidden things? Prophesies have always been forbidden things and Serenity does her best to break them, even if she knows it is inevitable. She has seen the birth of Death. She has made child princesses into warriors. She has allowed a dark being from her broken planet live in her bedroom mirror so that she can see her appear every day. The Queen knows of the forbidden prophesies and everyday one comes true; it is her wish to make sure the final one, surrounding her beloved child, never does.
Now if you’ll excuse her, her Serenity calls and she does wish to keep that girl waiting for one moment more.
RP Sample:
Serenity’s hand loosely held the brush in her grasp, feeling the jeweled designs on the handle press into her skin. She ran it through her silvery hair, the knots created from another night’s failed slumber giving way easily. The hair covered her body and trailed around her until it formed like a puddle at her feet. The Queen hummed to herself and dragged her fingers through the strands to make sure they were neat. She looked up to the large, golden framed mirror to see if her hair looked as right.
The image looked back at her and her silver eyes darted to her shoulder, catching sight of the curling black hair hidden out of her sight. The dark strands slithered like snakes, crawling across the floor into the larger mass which make up the shadows of her room. Serenity closed her eyes and rubbed her fingers over her temple, feeling the cat-like eyes inside her looking glass laugh at her. The mirror has always laughed at her. For two hundred years she has felt it do this, waiting for the day when it creaked the Queen and shattered her mind into a million pieces. And, for whatever reason, Serenity felt as through the shadows behind her shoulder were growing dark and larger with each passing sunrise.
“My Lady?” She heard a timid voice call her to attention and Serenity inhaled sharply, startling her. She turned, smiling at the maid who peered at her through her open door. She dropped the brush into her lap and beckoned her to come closer. “Forgive me, I must have gotten lost in thought. Now, what is it?”
“The council calls for you. They say they wish to begin the meeting, my Queen.”
“Oh, yes.” Serenity nodded and stood, her hair sliding over her white arms like a thick cloak. “Tell them I will be with them shortly.” The maid bowed herself out and Serenity mumbled her thanks, turning back to her mirror. Grabbing the hair pins placed out before her, the Queen fashioned her hair into the two buns. She brushed herself off, calling out “Coming.” as her name is said again. She dashed out her chamber door with her twin tails flooding after her, leaving the laughing eyes and the crawling shadows to their glass prison.

Other: Queen Serenity might be developing insomnia, as of late, though she hides it well.
Experience: Going on seven years now.
Why do you want to play this character? I adore Queen Serenity and the mystery which surrounds her. She is an important character, even if her screen time is limited, and her actions and backstory has always interested me. I love open opportunity characters like her that allow me to stretch out and see what I create. But even with that, she was always such a sweet looking character who never got a voice in her own tragedy. If anything, I want to give a voice to the Queen who is only told through flashbacks. She’s Sailor Moon’s Mommy, I’m sure she has a great story in her as well.
