Titan
Alias:Guardian of the Soldier of Destruction Age: 260 (20) Family: - Cronus, --deceased--, King of Saturn
- Rhea, --deceased--, Queen of Saturn
- Dione, 208 –stasis--, Princess of Saturn, Sailor Saturn: Soldier of Destruction
Rank: Pseudo-Prince of Saturn, commander of the Saturnian Defense Position: Guardian of the sleeping Princess of Saturn, the bringer of destruction Abilities: Highly skilled with a glaive and any related weapons, such as poles and staffs. Trained in archery and throwing knives. Strategist.
Traits: Titan is a quiet young man, heavy under the weight of many burdens. He is often alone, and lonely, but is confident and sure in the task given him by Queen Serenity upon the death of his parents and the awakening of his younger sister. He has accepted his fate. Description: For Titan, casual garb and uniform are one and the same: he is never off duty. His garb is primarily black with purple lining; he wears no gloves, and plain black shin-high military boots. Both pants and shirt are loose-fitting to allow for movement, and are devoid of decoration; none come to Saturn, so there is no one to dress for. Appearance: Titan has dark, dark red-orange hair that can appear black in low light, cut short enough to not hassle him but retaining some length to give his head some protection from the cold breezes that blow through the crumbling palace. He is pale, like the rest of his family, and has their characteristic purple eyes, eyes that mark him as a Saturnian royal, if such a thing existed anymore. Like his father Cronus, he stands tall, over six feet, and has a fit body from years of training and exercise. His face is serious, if sad.
Strengths:
- Determination – he will stop at nothing to uphold his solemn duty; while he has seldom been tested, each trial was passed, each threat defeated, no matter the stakes against him. He will not back down, will not surrender.
Weaknesses: Please describe in detail.
- Alone – while the a few of the guardians of some smaller moons live, only three remain in the Saturn system, the others taking diplomatic positions on Jupiter and Mars to keep their dismembered home under Titan’s control and care, rather than an outpost for the largest or most militaristic planet. The three guardians that remain keep patrol on their moons, watching for possible threats or invaders, but should they get through them or pass unheeded, Titan would stand against them alone.
- Troubled Past – While Titan believes himself over his past and the history of his family, questioning him too deeply might cause a breakdown, if not a passionate lashing out at the offender.
Hopes:
Fears:
- Defeat (not a personal fear; a fear for the Silver Alliance)
Background: The history of Saturn has been kept close, the words guarded by every citizen, the deeds never recorded in print less others find and peruse them. Theirs is a kept a mystery from the other planets and for good reason, for their history was one of terror and darkness.
The first King of Saturn, Caelus, was a cruel man, a tyrant, who ruled over Saturn and its moons with an iron fist – he was the one who cut off trade between Saturn and the rest of the System and forbade the writing of histories, forbade citizens from reading and scribing, knowing that if none as powerful as he were to learn of him, he would remain the unchallenged ruler and bask in his power for his natural lifetime. He took a Queen at a young age, Cel, whom he treated barely better than he treated his people. Cel bore many children for him, and he hated each more than the last, going so far as to imprison the youngest two and keep them from the light of day for eternity. Cel, powerless against him but hating him for his treatment of their youngest and finally past her breaking point, urged her children to take up Saturn’s royal emblem, a nearly indestructible Sickle, and kill him.
Of her 12 free children, only one stepped forward to free them from Caelus’s rule: Cronus. He took the ancient emblem and came upon his father in his chambers, killing him where he stood, but not before Caelus prophesized that Cronus, too, would be dethroned by one of his own children.
The death of Caelus brought about a happy time for the Saturnian Kingdom, a time of bounty, happiness and good fortune, enough so that the citizens dubbed the era of Cronus’s rule “The Golden Age”, and everyone lived in peace. Cel stepped down from the throne, content to live in peace with her youngest children; Cronus’s eleven brothers and sisters took to the larger moons of Saturn, each creating their own seat of power and successful hold. During a visit to one of his sister’s new castles, Cronus met Rhea, a beautiful young woman, and took her for his wife. They moved back to the Capital and lived in Castle Titan happily…
But all good things end.
The birth of Rhea’s first child was said to be the beginning of the second downfall of Saturn. Haunted by the dying words of his father, Cronus lived fearing the child, a boy, and one night, in a fit of fear, he killed the child in secret. Rhea was heartbroken over the mysterious death of her child, but never suspected her husband until their second child died in a similar manner, and then the third. Cronus’s paranoia had made accepting the life of a child impossible, and once she figured out his actions, Rhea lived in fear of her husband for what he did. Impregnated yet again, she turned to Cel for help, assistance, aid of any kind the old woman could give her.
Cel took Rhea’s pleas to heart, and with her youngest children – now fully grown and strong men – in tow, she met Cronus and bargained with him: if he allowed Rhea’s future children to live, he would be spared her wrath. Cronus, outnumbered and without his sickle, accepted, and Rhea’s son, Titan, was born. Distrustful of her husband’s word, Rhea kept the child close to her at all times. But when she found herself pregnant yet again, she sent the boy to live with his grandmother for his safety. Her foresight served her well, for when she gave birth to another child, Cronus, unable to find Titan, flew into a rage, claiming that he would only allow one child to live, and promptly killed the babe while it was still in her arms.
The deal broken, Cel flew into a rage and descended on Castle Titan with her youngest children to dethrone the cruel Cronus, but with his sickle in hand, Cronus killed them: both of this strongest siblings, and his own mother.
A massive war followed, Cronus’s eleven siblings forming alliances, some with Cronus, most against, anger over the death of their mother and of Rhea’s children fueling their rage to dethrone their sickle-bearing brother. However, with more threats than ever after his throne, Cronus still feared his missing son the most, and sent his troops, made loyal through years of wealth and riches, from moon to moon, killing every child near Titan’s toddling age in their search for the missing Prince of Saturn. While attempts were made to free Rhea from the prison that had been made of Castle Titan, none were successful. At the beginning of Rhea’s next pregnancy, her sixth, the war escalated until every large moon sported a bloodbath as Cronus’s troops fought to find and kill little Titan and keep Cronus as King of Saturn, and Cronus’s siblings fought to free Rhea and the child within her to put Titan, secretly within their grasp, on the throne in Cronus’s stead.
During the period of time wherein the child grew within Rhea, nine of Cronus’s eleven siblings died, and many moons were emptied in the bloodshed, but the battle had finally come to Castle Titan. Rhea went into labor as friendly forces pushed through and Cronus, threatened and alone, ran up to her birthing room and, with his sickle, sliced open her belly, hoping to kill the child within her, but it was too late.
Rhea, tired and dying, wished for her newborn’s safety as she breathed her last breath, and on the floor, surrounded in blankets and quiet as her mother now was, a newborn girl with wide purple eyes and a fuzz of black hair watched silently as her father screamed in frustration, the handle of his bloody scythe landing across her, its fall cushioned by her cloths. Baby fingers touched the handle curiously, and suddenly a purple symbol formed on the babe’s forehead, shining purple and brilliant. With strength impossible for her, the child lifted the scythe, and as her father turned in anger to see her, she let it drop.
… Titan returned to the castle of his namesake with members of the Silver Alliance, a force gathered to stop the civil war in the system, only just then hearing of things due to Cronus’s reinstatement of a trade and information ban. Titan had actually been squirreled away by one of his Aunts on an unmarked, unmanned vessel, given a lengthy letter to deliver to whomever found him with the situation on Saturn. As it was, he ended up on Mercury, who in both him and the information and analyzed everything before going directly to Queen Serenity. Queen Serenity put a force together immediately and set off for the sixth planet, but enroot a large energy disturbance rippled strongly on their sensors and the force came to a stop until engineers could determine what had caused it. Queen Serenity herself appeared then, a look of worry on her features, and they all continued.
The planet Saturn and all of its moons lay in various stages of destruction. Groups were sent to check the inhabitable moons for survivors, but the hopes for them were sadly minimal. Themain force continued to Titan. There they again found massive destruction, but this… it was not caused by war. Corpses lay strewn about, remnants of the final battle, but the palace itself was blown apart, a gaping hole left in its sides. Teams disembarked to search for survivors, but the only sound on the desolate planet was the stirrings of the cold wind… and a babe’s cries. Serenity herself went to investigate and returned to gather her forces to clear out the castle, to remove the dead and sweep away the debris, but the mysterious cries had been silenced. Taking the young boy in hand, Serenity led him to the throne room of Titan, a place unmarred by battle, and walked him over to a precisely cut hole in the floor of the chamber. Looking through, he saw a young baby girl sleeping, the purple symbol of Saturn glowing on her brow.
“Dione,” Serenity spoke as Titan, on his hands and knees, reached down to touch the glass coffin that the girl slept in. “She is your sister, Titan,” he looked up at her, his eyes asking for more information; Serenity continued, her silver eyes staring at him with mingled pity and dread, “The last of your family… and the harbinger of destruction.” Titan’s eyes grew wide, looking back at the young girl. His sister. The Silver Queen’s voice grew hard, attracting and holding his attention yet again, “She must never wake up, or else the entire system will perish. Titan, it will be your duty to make sure none wake her.”
He didn’t understand much of what she said at that time, but as he grew under the care and tutelage of some of the best the Silver Alliance had to offer – weapon masters from Mars, strategists from Mercury, trainers from Jupiter, diplomats from Venus – he learned well enough. His sister, the Senshi of Saturn who holds the power of Death and Destruction, awoke when she touched the ancient Saturnian Scythe and put an end to all life in and around Saturn’s royal court. And that was while she was a babe. Were she to awaken and use her powers, she had the ability to end life in the entire Solar System, if she so chose. He was to make sure this could not happen, his position chosen through his relationship to her, and kept as a reminder of what his family had done to an entire race of people. War broke out and thousands died because he had lived, so he would spend his life to make sure thousands more would survive.
When he reached puberty and had learned all that his tutors could teach him, they left; he remained, forever guarding the growing girl in the glass coffin.
